A Family’s Gift Will Leave A Lasting Legacy In Memory of Anest

A local charity supporting people with learning disabilities has been given a wonderful legacy by the family of Anest Trengove, who died last September at the age of 47.

Anest had been living at Archway’s Berryden Mills residential service for over 15 years.

Her father, Graham, and sisters, Rebecca and Jennifer, decided to give the gift in recognition of the care she received there and how happy she had been.

Archway, a parent led charity based in Aberdeen, supports almost 200 children and adults with learning disabilities and their families in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area.

It offers a range of care and support services including residential and respite care, supported living and care at home services.

The Trengove family’s gift is being used to help fund Archway’s new supported living service at Westhill, which is to be renamed Anest House.

It will also support the next special appeal to create another much needed supported living service so even more people will benefit.

Anest’s Dad, Graham, explained:

“We miss Anest very much and seek to keep her name alive. The money was saved to secure as happy a life for her as possible, and we feel that it should now support Archway.

Anest was very happy at Berryden Mills, which is why we hope that her friends and others will continue to benefit from Archway’s care.”

Jim Sangster, Chairman of Archway Charitable Trust and an Archway parent himself expressed the gratitude and thanks of the charity:

“Anest was a much-loved daughter and sister and was also a much-loved member of the Archway family.

We were so sorry to lose her and are honoured that her family has decided to leave this wonderful legacy in her memory and in recognition of the high standard of care she received.

It will bring lasting benefits to so many for many years to come and help us do more sooner and we cannot thank Graham, Jennifer and Rebecca enough.”

Anest House will be opening in April. Plans for the new Supported Living Service Appeal will be announced later in the year.
